Meet Our Vets
This V Bronze Star Recipient is Simply Known as "Mackie"
Army Specialist Four Mackie had his tour from 1968-70, including a year in Vietnam. To many at the American Legion Post 99, Mackie is affectionately known as a "character;" but, he took his military duties very seriously. In fact, in 1969 he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with "V" Device.
This corpsman did not stop caring for veterans and the needy when he received his DD214. Josh served in the Navy from 2003 – 2008 as an E4, Petty Officer 3rd Class. While his duties included tending to the sick and injured, Josh maintains a positive attitude and feels that he “got to see the good side of the military.”
When he talks about his experience at the Legion, he reflects that it is a place of comradery with like-minded people who possess mutual hopefulness and are free of judgment.
